Chamomile

The real chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla L.) belongs to the daisy family (Asteraceae). The genus name is derived from the Latin term "matrix" and means loosely translated uterus. An indication that chamomile was used as a medicinal plant for female healthcare very early on.
Chamomile is practically native all of Europe today. It is a medicinal plant that is mainly used for stomach and intestinal problems and inflammatory skin issues.
In 1987 it firstly was announced as medicinal plant of the year by the Association of German Druggists (VDD) and in 2002 medicinal plant of the year.
The chamomile flowers contain essential oil with matricin, flavonoids and coumarins. This unique combination of active ingredients makes chamomile a valuable remedy with anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties. Real chamomile is present in all of our products.
Lavander

The real lavender (Lavandula officinalis) often used as decorative plant for its good smell, above all is a medicinal plant. The original home of lavender is the coastal region of the Mediterranean. From Dalmatia to Greece to Tuscany, it grows widely on dry hills. The Benedictine monks once brought it north of the Alps, where it became increasingly popular.
The many different ingredients in lavender have an extremely positive synergetic effect on each other. For example linalool, which reduces inflammation, acts against harmful microbes and is antiseptic. Linalyl acetate, which provides the typical lavender scent and relaxes the nervous system, balances hormones and promotes serotonin formation. Camphor, which reduces inflammation of the mucous membranes. Cineole, which inhibits bacterial growth and has an antiseptic effect.
Lavender has a wide range of uses and is used, for example, to alleviate symptoms such as inner restlessness, nervous exhaustion, difficulty falling asleep, migraines and nervous gastrointestinal and gallbladder problems. In 2014, the effectiveness of lavender oil for anxiety disorders was even proven in a published double-blind study. Portuguese researchers were able to show in an in-vitro study that certain concentrations of lavender oil inhibit the growth of various yeast (Candida species) and filamentous fungi or kill them.
Lavender is a real miracle plant and was even voted medicinal plant of the year in 2020. You will also find this all-rounder and above all its antifungal and antibacterial properties in our products.
Lemon Balm

Lemon balm has always been a highly valued medicinal plant, whether Hildegard von Bingen, Plinius the First or Paracelsus all knew about the healing properties of lemon balm. Thanks to its many areas of application, lemon balm also has many different names in the vernacular, such as beeweed (because of its importance as bee pasture), heart comfort (because of its exhilarating effect), women's welfare (because it is used against menstrual cramps and cramps), bug herb (effective against bugs) and Feverfew (because it relieves pre-labor and pain associated with labour).
Traditionally, lemon balm is mainly used for stomach problems because it relaxes the muscles around the stomach and intestines and thus relieves cramps. Lemon balm oil counteracts inflammation. Lemon balm oil reduces the production of substances that trigger inflammation in the stomach and thus also relieves gastritis that has already developed and has a calming effect.
Lemon balm is also very popular for menstrual cramps because of its antispasmodic properties. It is very effective against viruses and bacteria and is also used to combat herpes simplex because of its highly antiviral components.
The active substances in the leaves of lemon balm contain essential oil, with citral and citronellal making up the main part of the chemical ingredients and also creating the fruity-lemon aroma. Also included are Lamiaceae tannins and flavonoids.
Lemon balm is also present in all of our products.

The Manuka plant only grows in New Zealand. Today the plant is also grown in other regions today, however the highest quality products still come from the East Cape region of New Zealand. Manuka is known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects: In traditional New Zealand medicine, Manuka is used to treat wounds, pain, stomach problems and fever. Even the natives of New Zealand, the Maoris, valued the leaves, seeds and bark of the manuka bush for many health problems.
A very special ingredient in manuka oil, which has so far only been found in manuka oil, is leptospermum. A triketone, or trione, a molecule with three ketone groups that is specifically effective against fungi and bacteria. The main active ingredients are the sesquiterpenes. They have an anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effect. Therefore, manuka oil is more effective than tea tree oil and gentler on the skin than tea tree oil. Manuka oil can be found in all Botanical Affairs products.
